The Gelato Sweater is a top down oversized raglan sweater knitted with large needles. This makes the knitting process quite fast. The pattern is a two stitch repeat which makes it suitable for someone who is new to color work but still wants to try out the technique on a sweater rather than on accessories. The sweater is casted on using a provisional cast on to make the collar easier to adjust to your liking. If you don’t like the provisional cast-on there are instructions on how to modify the pattern with a regular cast on instead.

The basic techniques used in this pattern are M1L & M1R as well as k2tog & ssk. I recommend using the Italian bind-off for a neat finish to the ribbing, however your preferred bind-off method may of course be used. You will also get empty charts for color planning.
Difficulty: 3/5

Gauge

16 stitches x 22 rows on 10 x10 cm or 4x4 inch on a 5,5 mm or US 9 needle in color chart after blocking.

Size 4,5 mm or US 7 needles are used for the ribbing on the collar.

The specified needle size is only a recommendation. Always use the needle size that gives you the correct gauge!

Yarn

Fivel by Rauma Garn 50g = 100m.

The used yarns are only a recommendation. You can use a different combination of yarns to create this sweater. I would recommend that you have the following things in mind when choosing your yarn:

Rauma Fivel is a rustic and fluffy worsted weight yarn. You also use other yarns and yarn combinations to attain the correct gauge.

When choosing colors I would recommend looking at your color choices on a gray scaled picture to see how much the colors differ from each other. If the colors look similar or are hard to distinguish it may be hard to see the difference of the colors on the finished project. This applies even if the colors themselves are different. If you run into this, I would suggest that you choose a yarn with the same color but with a slightly darker or lighter tone.

Size

Gelato sweater has an oversized fit. Recommended positive ease are about 15-20 cm or 6 - 7 ¾ in. Measure yourself over the chest to find your best fit. The sweater is shown with a positive ease of about 20 cm or 7 ¾ in. The sample is also shown with an extra 5 cm or 2 in added to the sleeves.

Since this is a very oversized sweater you can go down one size if you want more of a “regular” fit instead.
